A Daddy , Daughter Moment

So over the last few weeks, we have been working with Kaidynce on potty training. She is 22 months old, so I figured it was time. I haven't been pushing it at all, and she is catching on to it so fast! Its been so awesome. I haven't had to change a poopy diaper in a week. Thats pretty darn exciting if you ask me. She is doing so good. This picture I took was too cute not to take. Kaidynce had to go potty, so Zach took her and a few minutes later, this is what I found. Now if Zach knew I had a picture of him doing this , he would be embarrassed. (I guess its not that manly to paint your daughters toes and fingernails while she's on the potty.) Oh well. I thought it was cute.

Starting 2010 with a BANG!

The holidays came and went so fast, but we enjoyed every minute of them!! Thanksgiving was yummy, Christmas was exciting, and new years day was awesome!! We started out the new year with an eventful, and cold day, hunting for ducks and geese on the river. The temperature was 26 degrees and snowy. Our transportation was a small drift boat that could barely hold all six of us. Talk about EXCITING!! I have to admit I was a little nervous about floating down river, but it worked out great. We floated to the "perfect spot", and patiently waited for the ducks and geese to fly by. Our wait wasn't too long, we had ducks coming in all over the place. It was great! Thank goodness for our chocolate lab, Diesel. He retrieved all of the birds. Zach has trained him well!! We had a great hunting day. It was a perfect way to start out our new year.

Duck, duck, duck, GOOSE!

I just recently had a birthday and turned 26 years old! Yep your read it right, 26. So, I thought about what I wanted to do on my special day, and realized that when you get older , birthdays really don't mean as much anymore. Sad , I know, but true. I realized that I needed to do something that my kids would enjoy doing. So we loaded up in the car and headed to the nature park in Rexburg to feed the ducks and geese. Holy Moley! There had to be over 50 birds!! It was awesome! They swarmed us like flies on a cow pie! We couldn't feed them the bread fast enough. I was getting bit by the same duck the whole time. I think it was her way of getting my attention, and yes, it worked. OUCH! It's a good thing they don't have teeth. The kids and I absolutely enjoyed every moment of the crazy birds. It was so much fun. I highly recommend it. Just beware, they will run you down until you give them something to eat!!! All in all, I had a wonderful birthday! Thank you everyone who called, text, wrote on facebook, and stopped by, on my special day. I appreciate all of my friends and family!

A Happy Halloween

The Hillman family had a great Halloween!! We started off the day by doing our ward trunk-or-treat at 3:00, which was a great idea to do it that early cause the weather was awesome! The sun was shining and there was not even a breeze. Perfect. After that we went trick-or-treating to our neighbors and friends, and gathered more candy. Mind you, this was only 4:00 in the afternoon and the candy buckets were loaded. We had some time to kill before our family party, and decided to go to the Chester trunk-or-treat with Grandma Hillman. Once again, the kids loaded their candy buckets. SWEET! We had so much fun everywhere we went! Finally it was time for the family shindig. We filled our tummies with yummy soups and bread bowls, relish trays, homemade root beer, and hung out with great family and cousins. It was a great way to end our day. I hope you all had a great Halloween.

Happy Birthday Karter

September 22, Karter had his 4th birthday!! CRAZY! He is growing up so fast, and I swear he has grown another 6 inches. He's definitely not my little boy anymore.
For his birthday we just had some family over and ate cake and icecream. It was very laid back and enjoyable! Karter had a good time playing with cousins and opening up presents. Thanks everyone who came and supported Karter on his special day!!

Seven Years and Counting!

Zach and I had our seven year anniversary on September 6th. I can't believe it has already been that long. Not that 7 years is very long, but for me it is. We have had some very interesting years!
Zach and I met when I was 14 and he was 15, at a Z103 dance in St. Anthony. He was the only boy who asked me to dance, and I was very excited about it. I thought he was so cute!! We danced one song together, Because you loved me, by Celine Dione. After that we went our separate ways and I didn't see him again until after the weekend. He called me a few times on the phone, and started talking to me at school. On September 6, 1999, Zach asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes. We have been together ever since! Eleven years of excitement, sadness, tears, laughter, hard times, and loads of great times. He has been the only boyfriend I ever had! Crazy, I know, but I guess when its right, its right. I love everything about him. He is my best friend. We have no secrets with each other. I can tell him anything. He has took care of me very well. He spoils me as well as our two amazing kids. I am one lucky girl!

Butterfly

So a few weeks ago I decided to take my kids caterpillar hunting, and we were successful! We found 4 fat milkweed caterpillars and took them home to keep them as our pet until they hatched into butterflies. If anyone hasn't ever done this, I highly recommend it. Your kids will LOVE it. Karter thought it was the coolest thing ever! When they turned into Monarch butterflies, Karter got to hold them until they flew away. It was a fun thing to do with my kids.
